Kauai Coffee - Hawaii Coffee Growing Regions

by dan on April 11, 2010

The Kauai Coffee Company on the island of Kauai farms about 4,000 acres to produce their Kauai Estate Reserve. The plants are mostly of the varietals yellow catuai and typica, both of which are varieties of Arabica (Coffea arabica).

Kauai coffee markets their products as “consistent, agreeable coffees that will please those who prefer a full-bodied, sweet, low-acid cup.”

This large plantation on Kauai features long, regular lines of irrigated coffee plants that are picked with harvesting machines, similar to the Coffees of Hawaii estate on Molokai, but unlike Kona coffee which is hand-picked.
