Hawaii Organic Farmers Association Certifies Organic Kona Coffee

by dan on April 25, 2010

A non-profit organization, the Hawaii Organic Farmers Association (HOFA) administers the process of organic certification in the Hawaiian Islands including numerous Kona coffee farms. The group’s stated mission is to “protect the life of the land and the health of our communities through education about organic land care practices.”

In addition, the Hawaii Organic Farmers Association seeks to strengthen and develop farms that have been certified in order to enhance “Hawaii’s many fragile ecosystems and provides a base for a sustainable local economy.” The certification complies with the Federal Organic Rule enacted in 2000.
